En este artículo se trazan los senderos de intolerancia que se abren a partir de los nuevos descubrimientos en ciencia y tecnología. La globalización está alterando las identidades tradicionales, aquellas creadas por el Estado-nación. Se presentan las nuevas ramas del conocimiento para abrir una discusión sobre nuevas identidades y sus consecuencias. Se pone el énfasis en un grupo planetario que navega por las autopistas de Internet, los extropianos o "transhumanos", quienes culturalmente están ligados con la ciencia y la tecnología de punta.
