El movimiento del software libre

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es describir el surgimiento y desarrollo del movimiento de software libre. Para ello se analizan algunas características importantes que dan cuenta del origen y desarrollo del mismo, así como de sus momentos más críticos y sus tensiones, sus desafíos y sus retos. Otra de las grandes inquietudes de este trabajo, es intentar descifrar cómo el movimiento del software libre y Linux, en su versión más conocida, sobrevivieron y se afirmaron hasta llegar a constituir una verdadera alternativa frente a las grandes empresas de la alta tecnología.

The objective of this work (The Wave of Free Software), is to describe the on going and development of the wave of free software. For that, we analyze some of its most important characteristics that give us the beginning and development of free software; thus like it’s most critical and tension moments; its challenges and goals. An other huge part of this work tries to decipher how the wave of free software and Linux, on its most common version, survived and reaffirmed their position on the way to reach a real alternative for high technology big companies.
