A partir de 1970 y, sobre todo, desde 1990 en adelante, los indígenas mexicanos han ido incorporándose a los flujos migratorios tanto internos como internacionales. Las comunidades se extienden mucho más allá de los límites de pueblos específicos, pues sus miembros han emigrado y se han establecido en diversos puntos geográficos. A través de las redes que se extienden en el espacio nacional e internacional, los indígenas de México tienden a reconstituir el vínculo comunitario y a dinamizar las relaciones sociales que los mantienen unidos en los lugares de llegada. En este artículo analizo los procesos de construcción de las fronteras étnicas en la ciudad de México, con lo cual busco descubrir una lógica subyacente en la discriminación y lucha por los derechos a la ciudadanía de los indígenas radicados en la capital.... view less

Starting from 1970 and, mainly, from 1990 on, the Mexican indigenous have been incorporating to the internal and international migratory flows. The communities have extended a lot beyond the limits of specific towns, because their members have emigrated and they have settled down in diverse geographical points. Through the nets that extend in the national and international spaces, the natives from Mexico have spread to reconstitute the community bond and to energize the social relationships that maintain them united in the destination places. In this article, I analyze the processes of construction of the ethnic frontiers in Mexico City. By that means, I look forward to discover an underlying logic in the discrimination and the fight for the citizenship rights of the natives settled in the national capital.... view less
