Eine Vielzahl von Studien konnte nachweisen, dass der soziale Status und die elterlichen Bildungsabschlüsse Einfluss auf die Zugangschancen zu höheren Bildungsgängen und die Schulkarrieren von Kindern und Jugendlichen haben. Obwohl seit längerem angenommen wird, dass die innerfamilialen Umgangsformen, Erziehungsstile und Hierarchien auch milieuspezifisch variieren und zur Herstellung von Bildungsungleichheit beitragen, gibt es gleichwohl nur wenige Studien, die das Zusammenspiel von elterlicher Milieueinbindung und Bildungsorientierungen analysieren. Basierend auf einer qualitativen Studie geht der Aufsatz dieser Frage nach, wie die elterlichen Bildungsorientierungen in eine Gesamtkonstellation von sozialer Herkunft, Bildungsstatus und milieuspezifischen Präferenzen eingelagert sind. Numerous studies have shown relationships between social class, parents' occupational training and position, and the opportunities of access to higher education and the school careers of their children. Few studies have examined how parents' educational beliefs towards their children are cohering with their social origins and their milieu-related beliefs. Based on a qualitative study the paper analyses parental educational beliefs in relation to their social milieu. It aims to show how parental educational beliefs are embedded within an overall constellation of social origin, educational status and milieu-specific preferences, which has not been sufficiently taken into account.
