This article first revisits key concepts in gender studies ("doing gender", "doing difference" and "intersectionality") from a historical perspective, portraying them as crucial contributions to praxeology. Second, it draws on the impetus which practice theory can provide as regards the history of gender and the body. Based on an analysis of early modern bodily practices described in letters written by Elisabeth Charlotte, Princess Palatinate (1652-1722), the article demonstrates how gender theory and practice theory can enrich each other.... view less
