| de |
dc.description.abstract | Happiness in modern society is a matter of tensions and contradictions, because the process of modernization was accompanied by emotional impacts. In modernity, money is forcing social relations and personal emotions into patterns of purposeful rationality, while at the same time, the consumption of commodities is charged up emotionally, becoming a driver for the pursuit of happiness. In postmodernity, this cultural divide widens once more. But is the 'false' happiness of consumerism the only existing happiness? How could 'authentic' happiness look like? Finally, based on distinctions between everyday knowledge constructions and non-everyday spheres of meaning, happiness will be described as a partial and self-chosen transcendence of self. | en |
