%X After half a century, the division within Europe, Germany and its capital city have come to a (happy) conclusion. An incredible development deficit can be dissolved and the main functions of Berlin can be built up again. In this context, the large, new infrastructure, linking Berlin with the majority of the rest of Europe, are the subject of debate, whereby new technology is being employed and new structures are being created with far-reaching, re mote effects on rail, road and air travel. The new form of magnetic travel technology opens up previously unknown perspectives for the structuring of the living space in Europe. Transportation geography and traffic politics have obviously not yet perceived the opportunities and consequences arising from this and are suffering from a considerable tailback in co-ordination.
