Reflexionen zur Bedeutung von Handlung und Praktik in der Ethnographie

Abstract

"Ethnographie erfreut sich in der deutschsprachigen Erziehungswissenschaft zunehmender Beliebtheit. Dabei wird seit einigen Jahren in Anlehnung an kulturwissenschaftliche Theorien auf den Begriff der Praktiken rekurriert. Mit dieser Entwicklung scheint sich die - der Ethnographie aufgrund ihrer Subjektivität ohnehin innewohnende - Unbestimmtheit weiter zu vergrößern. Der Beitrag nimmt dies zum Ausgangspunkt und fragt, was als das spezifisch Ethnographische der Ethnographie anzusehen ist. Plädiert wird für eine Neu-Zentrierung der Erfahrung durch teilnehmende Beobachtung und eine Schärfung des Praktikenbegriffs in Richtung Körper, Artefakte und Sprache." (Autorenreferat)

"Among the German-speaking educational science community, ethnography is becoming more and more popular. Since a few years the term 'practices' is being used, following the cultural sciences theories. This development seems to have increased the indetermination which is already inherent in ethnography due to its subjectivity. Using this as a starting point, the following article tries to find out what is specifically ethnographic about ethnography. It makes an argument for a refocus of the experiences through participatory observation and a more pronounced formulation of the concept of practices towards body, artefact and language."
