In the article the campus is examined as an example of informal public space. Modern researcher R. Oldenburg calls this space as "the third place". "The third places" differ from the previous formal places by a "friendly" environment. The authors analyze the process of turning of actual "empty" space into "the third place" and define its factors such as realization of art projects and creation of space-transformers. Besides they determine the role of students’ initiatives in these processes.en
