%X Nowadays,	 there	 are	 several	 major	 extractive	
projects in the province of Santander, one of them 
is the coal mining in Chucurí. This activity has 
as an outcome many environmental damages, 
as well as socio-economic harms. In this paper 
all those damages are briefly presented, but the 
main point is to show the paths and tools used by 
the community and the civil society in order to 
restrain the harm and to get compensation for it.
