"Although the Theory of Planned Behavior is one of the most influential models in social psychology, the means by which its components function could not, so far, be clearly explained. The obviously theoretical and often published supposition that an interaction occurs between behavioral intention and controllability has never been clearly demonstrated. This study develops a model which integrates thoughts on interactivity directed at theory. The assignation of specific values, in which intra-individual weights incorporate at the point of regression coefficients, makes a real prediction of behavior possible in reformed model. Ascertainment of the data corresponds to the second experiment of the original examination by Ajzen & Madden (1986); 297 students at the University of Hamburg were asked about their intentions to get a very good grade on an imminent test. The corresponding test results were collected as behavioral criteria. The outcome of a comparison of the newly developed model with the original Theory of Planned Behavior, both in the prediction of test results (r = .223** to R = .143) and in the linear structural equiation model (X²/df = 1.48 to X²/df = 5.34), clearly favors the reformed model."[author´s abstract]... view less
