"Viele Eltern nutzen mittlerweile recht selbstverständlich institutionalisierte Bildungsangebote unmittelbar vor und nach der Geburt bis zum Eintritt ihres Nachwuchses in die Krippe oder Kindertagesstätte. In einem Forschungsprojekt in der Region Südniedersachsen wurden in Kooperation mit sechs Familienbildungsstätten Elternbildungsprozesse in pädagogisch angeleiteten Eltern-Kind-Gruppen untersucht. Der Beitrag präsentiert Ergebnisse, die aus der Analyse von 21 leitfadengestützten Interviews mit Eltern aus laufenden Eltern-Kind-Gruppen hervorgegangen sind. Die Diskussion fokussiert das Zusammenwirken von Familienerziehung und non-formellen, institutionalisierten Bildungsangeboten. Im Hinblick auf ein zeitlich zunehmend früheres Aufsuchen von Bildungsinstitutionen wird diskutiert, wie Familien bereits in der frühen Familienphase öffentliche Bildungsorte zur Selbstvergewisserung in ihrem erzieherischen Handeln und in ihrer Identifikation als 'gute Eltern' nutzen. Ferner wird analysiert, inwieweit die Gruppe selbst zu einem etablierten Erfahrungsraum im Familienalltag wird. Dies könnte bedeuten, dass die Herstellungsleistungen im Sinne eines doing family oder doing parentship in besonderer Weise durch Formate der institutionellen Familienbildungsarbeit geprägt werden. Die Konstruktion von Familie und Öffentlichkeit als gegensätzliche soziale Sphären würde vor diesem Hintergrund an Eindeutigkeit verlieren." (Autorenreferat)... view less

"Today, many parents make use of institutionalized family education schemes very much as a matter of course before or after the birth of their children and until they visit a daycare centre. As part of a research and transfer project realized in six family education centres in the south of Lower Saxony, we analyzed processes of family education in parent-child groups conducted by education professionals. The article outlines findings developed from an evaluation of 21 guided interviews with parents taking part in parent-child groups at the time of the assessment. The discussion is focused on the interaction between education and upbringing in families and non-formal institutionalized educational schemes for families. As people are seeking out institutions of non-formal education at an increasingly early stage, we discuss how families already use public places of education in the early stages of family life for self-assurance. Do they also use these groups and other schemes to gain certainty about their children's upbringing and identify with the role of 'good parents'? Furthermore there is an analysis of the extent to which the group itself becomes an established realm of experience in families' everyday lives. This could mean that doing family or doing parentship is shaped in a specific way by institutionalized forms of family education.
