Das Eigengewicht der Institutionen und die Zentralität der Laien: Anmerkungen zur Feldtheorie Pierre Bourdieus

Abstract

"Der Beitrag argumentiert, dass Pierre Bourdieus Soziologie sich jenseits der Unterscheidung zwischen Struktur- und Handlungstheorien im Spektrum der Alltagstheorien verorten lässt. Gezeigt wird, wie auf sozialtheoretischer Ebene insbesondere das Konzept 'sozialer Felder' dazu dienen kann, die soziale Lebenswelt des Alltags als Ordnungszusammenhang zu verstehen, der durch ein starkes Eigengewicht feldspezifischer Institutionen geprägt ist. Mit Blick auf den gesellschaftstheoretischen Gehalt der Feldtheorie erweist sich das Feld der Hilfe als Testfall, anhand dessen eine Revision der allgemeinen Feldtheorie vorgeschlagen wird: Statt die Autonomie sozialer Felder über den Grad der Professionalisierung zu bestimmen, ist nach dem Beitrag von Laien zur Institutionalisierung der Felder zu fragen. Für die empirische Analyse erweist sich zudem eine Kombination mit Anselm Strauss' Soziologie sozialer Welten als fruchtbar." (Autorenreferat)

"The article reasons that Pierre Bourdieu's sociology lies beyond the differentiation of theories of structures and theories of action, and can instead fall within the spectrum of theories of everyday life. It will be illustrated, how especially the concept of 'social fields' can meliorate the comprehension of the everyday life-world as a structural arrangement, which is highly structured by field-specific institutions. With regard to the socio-theoretical substance of field theory, we use the construct of the 'field of help' in order to suggest a revision of field theory in general. Rather than determining autonomy of social fields along the degree of professionalization, we ask for lays' impact on the institutionalization of fields. For the purpose of empirical analysis, the combination with Anselm Strauss' sociology of social worlds has proven to be a fruitful extension." (author's abstract)
