Abstract

"Im Zusammenhang mit der Globalisierung von Wirtschaftsstrukturen und der Herausbildung einer stark auf Wissen basierenden Ökonomie entkoppeln sich räumliche von funktionalen Strukturen. Dieser Prozess kann in polyzentralen Stadtregionen besonders gut beobachtet werden. Zugleich führt die Herausbildung von neuen Zentren und Interaktionsmustern in Stadtregionen zu einer Diskrepanz zwischen der relationalen Einbindung von Unternehmen und Personen und dem territorialen Bezugsraum von Politiken. Die Gegenüberstellung von räumlichen Strukturen und Netzwerkstrukturen steht im Zentrum des Beitrags." (Autorenreferat)

"Globalisation of economic activities and the rise of a knowledge-based economy lead to an uncoupling of spatial and functional structures. This process can especially be observed in polycentric city regions. At the same time, the rise of new economic centres and new patterns of interaction within city regions leads to a discrepancy between the relational integration of firms and actors and the territorial reference of planning and politics.
