'Albert Salomon (1891-1966) was a German and a Jew at the same time. From the very beginning, he developed a transdifferent positioning, because of his double binding; from 1935 in the New York exile its complexity even increases. His opinion of on Germany was affected by the contrast of two contradicting views on Germany: on the one hand the dominant, latent anti-Semitic Prussian hegemony and on the other one his own new humanistic Bildungsideal. During his life he oscillated and took new positions between these poles that can be illustrated by disruptions of everyday life and blows of fate.' (author's abstract)|... view less
