'Trotz zunehmender Frauenerwerbstätigkeit, Bildungsangleichung und formaler Gleichberechtigung hat die Geschlechterungleichheit im modernen Privathaushalt als traditionelle Arbeitsteilung nahezu unverändert überlebt. Allerdings wird sie von den Betroffenen selbst angesichts der Macht der Idee der Gleichheit immer seltener als Geschlechterungleichheit wahrgenommen. Der Artikel zeigt anhand ausgewählter Arbeiten zur neueren Geschlechter- und Hausarbeitsforschung, wie die Geschlechter heutzutage die Ungleichheit umdeuten, rechtfertigen oder stillschweigend reproduzieren und gibt damit eine Antwort auf die Frage, warum die ungleiche Aufgabenverteilung im Privathaushalt so resistent ist.' 'Despite the increasing number of women in employment, enhanced education opportunities and equal rights, gender inequality still survives in modern private households in the form of traditional job sharing. However, considering the powerful concept of equality, the women and men affected do not perceive this as gender inequality. Drawing on contemporary studies and research of gender and domestic work the article points out how women and men reinterpret, justify or reproduce tacit inequalities.
