'In the literature there are two general sources of response effects discussed: features of persons (interviewers and respondents) and features of the questionnaire. This article deals with possible response effects due to the questionnaire. In a survey concerning Aids which was part of the ZUMA-Sozialwissenschaften-BUS II/1995, two versions of a questionnaire were developed changing the order of answers in closed questions and using two different wordings in Likert-scales. Bivariate analysis as well as multivariate analysis (age, gener, education, size of place of residence as controlling factors) have shown that there is no systematic effect of a different wording or the order of answers.'
