(Autorenreferat)... view less

'Cultural management represents a young professional field with a low degree of institutionalisation. There exist only few professional associations or standards that would define a professional profile or qualification profile. The article, which is based on an empirical survey, investigates the entry phase and occupational development of young academic cultural managers in Austria. Establishment and formation of personal contacts and of networks play a crucial role in the career of each individual. Furthermore, not only managerial, but also art and culture specific knowledge is being considered as an important requirement in this profession. These and other insights are discussed in relation to structural changes of cultural organizations and of concepts in the profession of cultural management.' (author's abstract)|... view less
