According to the theory of skill-biased technological change, labour markets are characterised by an increasing demand for more highly skilled workers. On the other hand, the process of educational expansion increases the number of those who are better educated. In this context, basic qualification levels are devaluated in the labour market. A certain level of education could be sufficient to allow a successful participation in the labour market for specific groups of people, while for others, it may be insufficient. Taking these aspects into consideration, the present paper aims to reveal how and if the threshold pertaining to educational poverty changes across generations in the case of Romania. Our findings are useful for fostering data-driven decisions for public policies in the field of education.de
