The issue of studying metonymy in literature, especially in the fantasy genre, is key for readers in terms of perceiving the world and language of a literary work, and metonymy is also considered an excellent device of thinking in everyday life. First, this article explores the cognitive essence of metonymy in terms of Rowling's "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban".
