Though relevant more nongerman juvenile and young persons than german ones are suspected of having offended against the law, the risk for the nongermans of being sentenced is relevant smaller. It is hypothesized that this phenomenon does not result from a different 'criminal disposition' of german and nongerman juvenile and young persons, but from the different kind of inquiry and examination by the police for the two groups of people. Obwohl deutlich mehr nichtdeutsche als deutsche Jugendliche und Heranwachsende beschuldigt wurden, eine strafrechtlich relevante Tat begangen zu haben, ist das Risiko für die Nichtdeutschen, auch deswegen verurteilt zu werden, deutlich geringer als bei der deutschen Vergleichsgruppe. Obwohl deutlich mehr nichtdeutsche als deutsche Jugendliche und Heranwachsende beschuldigt wurden, eine strafrechtlich relevante Tat begangen zu haben, ist das Risiko für die Nichtdeutschen, auch deswegen verurteilt zu werden, deutlich geringer als bei der deutschen Vergleichsgruppe. Dieses Phänomen resultiert nicht aus der unterschiedlichen 'kriminellen Veranlagung' von deutschen und nichtdeutschen Jugendlichen und Heranwachsenden, sondern - so die These - aus der unterschiedlichen Art der polizeilichen Ermittlung und Vernehmung.
