"Der Aufsatz geht der Frage nach, inwieweit die dokumentarische Methode es ermöglicht, ein sinnvolles, weil ertragreiches und gegenstandsangemessenes Forschungsinstrumentarium zur Unterrichtsforschung zu konstruieren. Dazu werden erstens theoretische und methodologische Überlegungen angestellt, um die Perspektive der Methode zu beschreiben. Zweitens wird erläutert, wie die klassische Form der Methode erweitert werden kann, um die Bearbeitung spezifischer Fragestellungen der fachdidaktischen Unterrichtsforschung und eine Integration hypothesenprüfender und rekonstruktiver Verfahren wie z.B. zur Kompetenzanalyse zu ermöglichen. Drittens werden die Überlegungen durch Interpretationen konkreter Daten aus einem empirischen Forschungsprojekt verdeutlicht." (Autorenreferat)... view less

"The paper discusses how the documentary method can be used as a tool for valid classroom research. In order to contextualise this question the paper starts out with some remarks on school theory and an overview of classroom research taking into account both qualitative and quantitative approaches. On this basis methodological issues of the documentary method as a tool for classroom research will be discussed in depth. This includes necessary adjustments of key concepts as well as possible additional tools for analysis. These theoretical considerations are illustrated by a sample analysis using two pieces of classroom data from a research project on content and language integrated learning."
