(Autorenreferat)... view less

'This article presents a statistical analysis of minor criminal conduct that is based on an integrated theoretical approach. First, a model explaining the behavioral intention to commit a minor crime (i.e. shoplifting, tax evasion, drunk driving, fare evasion) is suggested. The theoretical assumptions underlying this explanatory model drew on different theories of deviance (e.g. anomie theory, techniques of neutralization) and general theories of action (e.g. rational actor theory). This model is tested in a representative national survey, the ALLBUS 2000 (N = 3138). Second, a low-cost hypothesis pertaining to the costs of committing a minor crime is tested. Third, a model explaining the subjective probability of sanctions is formulated and tested.' (author's abstract)|... view less
