Krisen im Fußballgeschäft werden meist nur als das Ausbleiben sportlichen Erfolgs verstanden. Der Artikel rekapituliert wesentliche Erkenntnisse der materialistischen Staatstheorie von Joachim Hirsch und verbindet diese mit einer materialistischen Fußballkritik. Im Fokus stehen mögliche Hegemoniekrisen im europäischen Profi-Fußball, um Fragen auszuloten, die für die empirische Forschung von Belang sein könnten.

Crises in the football business are usually only understood as the absence of sporting success. The article recapitulates key findings of Joachim Hirsch's materialist theory of the state and combines these with a materialist critique of football. The focus is on possible hegemony crises in European professional football in order to explore questions that could be relevant for empirical research.
