The spill of 18 thousand liters of 2,4-D herbicide in the Argentine town of San José de la Esquina shows how the accident, starring the overturning of the truck carrying the herbicide, is part of a normalized state of exception that transcends this event. While, in its original sense, the idea of a state of exception turnedinto a norm refers to the normalization, within the rule of law, of the suspensionof the legal order (Agamben, 2004), here exceptionality becomes part of a normalized productive logic. El derrame de 18 mil litros de herbicida 2,4-D en el pueblo argentino San José de la Esquina evidencia cómo la figura del accidente, protagonizado por el vuelco del camiónque transportaba el herbicida, es parte un estado de excepción normalizado quetrasciende este evento. Mientras que, en su sentido original, la idea de estado de excepción devenida norma remite a la normalización, dentro del estado de derecho, de lasuspensión del orden jurídico (Agamben, 2004), aquí la excepcionalidad deviene parte deuna lógica productiva normalizada.
