The inevitable conclusion seems to be that labour today hardly creates any deeper bonds: with the erosion of the old "workers' solidarity", "solidarity" as such seems to disappear from the world of work. This article aims to examine this thesis. It analyses various cases in industrial and service sectors in which, according to conventional understanding, little cohesion is to be expected - but in which collectice action and resistance and practical learning processes towards solidarity have taken place. This is a multi-stage learning process that takes place from co-operation in the shop floor to collegiality and interest-based action.... view less
