In dem Artikel wird die Konzeption eines libertären Paternalismus diskutiert, wie sie Thaler und Sunstein in ihrem Buch Nudge entwickeln. Zur Frage steht dabei, ob es den Autoren gelingt, die Verbindung der beiden auf den ersten Blick widersprüchlichen Kategorien plausibel zu machen. Im Ergebnis wird sich zeigen, dass Thaler und Sunstein einerseits wichtige Impulse für die ökonomische Handlungstheorie und die politische Steuerungsdebatte geben, andererseits aber zentrale normative Bedenken gegen manipulative Züge auch ihrer weichen Variante des Paternalismus nicht gänzlich auszuräumen vermögen.... view less

The article discusses the conception of libertarian paternalism, developed by Thaler and Sunstein in their book Nudge. It asks if the authors are able to make the combination of both prima vista contradictory categories plausible. In the end it becomes clear that Thaler and Sunstein give on the one hand an important inspiration to the economic theory of action and to the debate on political governance. But on the other hand they aren't really able to smooth out important normative objections against some manipulative tendencies of their weak paternalism.... view less
