Se analiza la relación entre identidad y compromiso organizacional en las empresas familiares medianas con el fin de contribuir al campo de conocimiento de la empresa familiar y gestión de la identidad organizacional. El método es cualitativo con la estrategia de estudio de caso múltiple. Se eligieron tres empresas familiares medianas. De acuerdo con los hallazgos, los empleados familiares tienen mayor identidad organizacional que los empleados no familiares y el compromiso organizacional está directamente relacionado con la identidad. Además, la generación familiar propietaria influye en ambas variables, siendo en la segunda generación donde se encuentran mayores niveles de identidad y compromiso organizacional en sus tres dimensiones, en empleados no familiares. The objective of this work is to analyze the relationship between identity and organizational commitment in medium-sized family businesses. It contributes to the field of knowledge of the family business and management of organizational identity. The method is qualitative with the multiple case study strategy. Three medium-sized family businesses were chosen. The main findings are that family employees have a greater organizational identity than non-family employees, and that organizational commitment is directly related to identity. In addition, that the owner family generation influences both variables, being the second generation where higher levels of identity and organizational commitment are found in its three dimensions, in non-family employees. Lines of research are suggested that compare family businesses with non-family businesses and include small businesses.... view less
