Livestreams of political events such as the protests against the Covid-19 protection regulations, established themselves as an integral part of the far-right protest and communication culture. They play a significant role in the normalization of extreme rightwing actors and positions. The aim of this study was to investigate the function of livestreams through initial theoretical considerations and interdisciplinary analyses based on these. So far, there has been no research on this topic in the field of right-wing extremism. In the following, intersections to media studies will be indicated and the livestream will be integrated there. Methodologically, a theatrical description as a theatrical event was conducted first, followed by a corpus linguistic analysis of the function of the accompanying chat. These initial analyses reveal that the livestream is a form of protest in its own right, aiming at the relational level. The article outlines this novel form of protest and provides an opening for further interdisciplinary discussion.... view less
