Amateurfußball im Wandel: Krise, Transformation und soziales Unternehmertum im deutsch-englischen Vergleich

Abstract

Am Beispiel zweier Fußballamateurvereine aus England und Deutschland wird im Rahmen eines internationalen Vergleichs diskutiert, wie der Bereich des Amateurfußballs durch Beziehungen des Lokalen und Globalen, sowie von Elementen aus Amateursport und Professionalismus durchzogen sind. Die Analyse als Kombination aus kultur-, wissenssoziologischer und kulturhistorischer Perspektive ist insbesondere durch die Konzepte Krise, Wandel und soziales Unternehmertum geleitet. Hier sind Ansätze zur Veränderung über den Aus- oder Neubau der eigenen Sportanlage zu nennen, die im Zentrum der jeweiligen lokalen Wandlungsprozesse stehen. Der internationale Vergleich anhand der beiden Vereine lässt auf Transformationsprozesse mit bestimmten Legitimierungsstrategien im Rahmen von Krise schließen. Die jeweilige Neubewertung der Sportanlage und damit des Gesamtvereins kann insgesamt betrachtet werden als Beispiel eines symbolischen Aktivismus, verbunden mit Ansätzen sozialen Unternehmertums.

Drawing on the examples of two amateur football clubs from England and Germany, we discuss in an international comparison how the realm of amateur football is shaped by relations of the local and the global, and by elements of amateurism and professionalism. The analysis combines perspectives from the sociology of culture/knowledge as well as cultural history and revolves around the concepts of crisis, transformation and social entrepreneurship. We focus in particular on the clubs’ respective plans to transform or rebuild their sports facilities on the basis of different practices and motivations, thereby initiating specific local processes of change. The comparison suggests specific processes of transformation and legitimizing strategies in the context of crisis. In both cases, the organizational effort required to modernize facilities while simultaneously recasting the club in a new form represents symbolic activism combined with social entrepreneurship.
