Lokaler Konsum bei Multilokalität

Abstract

Im Beitrag wird das Ausmaß lokalen Konsums bei Multilokalität fokussiert. In der Literatur lassen sich zwei Positionen zur Bedeutung von residentieller Mobilität für die lokale Orientierung und den lokalen Konsum identifizieren: eine optimistische und eine pessimistische. Im Beitrag wird daher die Häufigkeit des lokal orientierten Konsums von sogenannten Shuttles und von Personen in Fernbeziehung (LAT) mit dem nichtmobiler Personen verglichen. Lokal orientierter Konsum wurde als Konsum von lokalen Alltagsprodukten, ökologischer Konsum, Medienkonsum und als große lokale Investitionen definiert. Basierend auf Daten einer Beispielstudie besteht ein zentraler Befund darin, dass Shuttles an ihren Wohnorten ein beträchtliches Maß an lokalem Konsum aufweisen, obwohl einige lokale Asymmetrien bestehen. Abschließend wird die Relevanz des lokalen Konsums bei Multilokalität diskutiert.

In this article, the frequency of local consumption during multilocal living is addressed. Two positions can be identified in literature regarding the importance of residential mobility for local orientation and local consumption: an optimistic one and a pessimistic one. Thus, in this paper, the local consumption of multilocal shuttles and people who live apart together is compared with the local consumption of non-mobile locals. Locally oriented consumption was specified as local everyday consumption, ecological consumption, media consumption and major local investments. Based on data from an exemplary study, a key finding is that shuttles conduct a notable amount of local consumption at their places of residence, although some local asymmetries are revealed. The relevance of local consumption during multilocal living is finally discussed.
