Kinderarmut, in Deutschland ein sozialpolitisches Problem ersten Ranges, wird von der Armutsforschung methodisch und analytisch sowohl als familiäre Einkommensarmut als auch mehrdimensional auf Kindesebene erfasst. Die Expertise zeigt, dass Kinder und Jugendliche aus Erwerbslosen- und alleinerziehenden Familien die Hauptrisikogruppen sind, und geht der Frage nach, inwiefern die Flüchtlingszuwanderung die Kinderarmut vermehrt. Aktuelle Forschungsbefunde verdeutlichen, wie eingeschränkt und benachteiligt sich die Lebenslagedimensionen des Wohnens, der kulturellen Entfaltung sowie der Freizeitmöglichkeiten für Kinder aus armen Familienverhältnissen darstellen. Je früher und länger diese Benachteiligung auftritt, umso ausgeprägter sind die oftmals lebenslangen Folgen etwa in Bezug auf Bildungsbenachteiligung und dauerhafte Armutsrisiken. Die sozialräumlichen Trends der Konzentration von Kinderarmut in ohnehin benachteiligten Gebieten und Regionen illustrieren, dass Armutsbekämpfung auch regional differenziert und zielgerichtet ausgestaltet werden muss.... view less

Child poverty, a major challenge for social politics in Germany, is addressed by methods and analysis of research on poverty on two levels: low income families and the multifaceted child perspective. This study shows that children and adolescents from unemployed and singleparent families are most at risk and investigates to what extent increased numbers of refugees contribute to child poverty. Current research illustrates that children from poor families are severely limited and disadvantaged in the areas of housing conditions, cultural participation and leisure activities. The earlier this situation occurs and the longer it persists, the more pronounced are the lifelong disadvantages in terms of education and permanent risk of poverty. The trend towards a concentration of child poverty in areas that are already plagued by social problems shows that poverty must be combatted in a targeted way and differentiated by region.... view less
