Mensch und Technik revisited - zum sich verändernden Stellenwert von Informalität im Prozess der Digitalisierung

Abstract

Der Beitrag fragt, wie sich im Zuge aktueller Prozesse der Digitalisierung und Automatisierung der industriellen Produktion der Stellenwert von informellen Arbeitshandeln auf der Ebene der betrieblichen Arbeitsorganisation und des Arbeitsprozesses verändert. In Frage steht angesichts neuer autonomer', 'vernetzter' und 'selbstlernender' technischer Systeme, ob frühere Diagnosen eines funktionalen Erfordernisses von informellem Handeln als Komplement zu technischen Formalisierungen im Zuge der Digitalisierung von Arbeit noch Bestand haben. Im Lichte der soziotechnischen System-Perspektive werden aktuelle empirische' Fallbeispiele der Einführung von Industrie 4.0-Anwendungen im Hinblick auf die Kollaboration von Mensch und Technik, die Spielräume für Informalität angesichts der Technisierung und Formalisierung betrieblicher Abläufe und das resultierende Wechselverhältnis von sozialem und technischem Teilsystem analysiert.

The paper focuses on the changing significance of informal work practice in organizations and in the labor process in the course of ongoing processes of digitization and automation of industry. The distinctive features of new production technologies question earlier diagnoses that digitization leads to a formalization of, and thus to rigidities in the production process, which have to be countered by informal action on the workers' side in order to keep the system in a balance. In the light of the sociotechnical system perspective, recent empirical case studies on the introduction of "Industry 4.0" applications are evaluated with regard to the collaboration of humans and technology, the scope for informality in view of the technology-driven formalization of production processes, and the resulting interdependence of social and technological subsystems.
