In dem Beitrag werden die Ergebnisse einer qualitativen Untersuchung zur Gründungsgeschichte aus Sicht von Selbstständigen mit Migrationshintergrund vorgestellt. Als Ergebnis wird eine Typenbildung präsentiert, die den Kontext, in den die Unternehmensgründung eingebettet ist sowie die Motivationslagen, die zur Selbstständigkeit geführt haben, berücksichtigt. Hier zeigt sich die gesamte Spannweite selbstständigen Arbeitens von Migrantinnen und Migranten: vom prekären Unternehmertum bis hin zur Selbstständigkeit mit hohen Autonomiegraden. Darüber hinaus wird auf spezifische Herausforderungen für migrantische Unternehmerinnen und Unternehmer im Verstehen von Systemen, beispielsweise dem deutschen Rechts-, Bildungs- oder Sozialversicherungssystem, formellen Regelungen und informellen Regeln eingegangen. Zum einen wird deutlich, dass dieses Systemwissen nicht leicht zugänglich ist. Zum anderen offenbart sich, wie handlungsleitend (zunächst) kulturelle und institutionelle Prägungen durch die Herkunftsländer sind. Diese kulturellen und institutionellen Prägungen durch die Herkunftsländer finden in der Forschung zu Migration und Integration bisher zu wenig Beachtung, bekommen aber mit Blick auf die Integration von Geflüchteten zusätzliche Bedeutung.... view less

The paper examines results of a qualitative study from the perspective of the self-employed with an immigrant background. The analysis presents ideal types, which regard the context of the business foundation, as well as the motivations for entrepreneurship. The results reveal the entire span of an economy: being precarious or being empowered (self-determined). The data analysis shows the specific challenges for immigrant entrepreneurs understanding various German systems (e. g. legal or educational systems). This "systems knowledge" is not easy to understand and apply. Another important aspect is cultural and institutional background by the countries of origin. We argue, that cultural and institutional imprints had been given too little attention. And that it will play a major role in the integration of refugees.... view less
