As a pan European river, flowing from Germany through the Black Sea, the Danube and its area are major for European geopolitics. In this text the origins and the political influences of the Danube River Cooperation are analysed, showing the key role of new actors, more particularly of the European Union. The EU Strategy for the Danube River aims at resolving some of the different geo historical problems of this area. It offers at the same time a new framework for cooperation. At the end, by changing scales from meso to macro, the text shows some guidelines for reenhancing the cooperations: building at the Danube River Basin scale a common space for its inhabitants!... view less

L’histoire, les soubresauts fréquents et les dimensions politiques de la coopération danubienne à échelle macro sont ici commentées et analysées de façon à saisir le rôle d’acteurs nouveaux, en particulier de l’Union européenne au travers de sa Stratégie pour le Danube, dans la résorption des problèmes posés par ces aléas géohistoriques. Par le jeu du changement d’échelles (méso voire micro), le texte montre au final l’enjeu d’un renforcement des coopérations locales pour faire du bassin danubien un véritable espace de coopération approprié par ses habitants.... view less
