En este escrito se sostiene la ausencia de una unidad en la tradición política americana. Sus premisas no forman un todo coherente debido a la presencia de intereses sociales y económicos discrepantes en el entorno que acompaña su definición. No ocurre así con las instituciones que finalmente se consolidan para guiar la vida política de ese país. La división de poderes, el laicismo y el pluralismo documentan cabalmente el compromiso establecido entre las fuerzas que intervienen en la definición final del sistema político estadounidense. De igual modo, se asevera la existencia en esa experiencia de principios susceptibles de ser integrados tanto al ejercicio de la democracia contemporánea como al impulso de fuerzas económicas orientadas al desarrollo del capitalismo en gran escala.... view less

This essay holds there is an absence of unity in the American political tradition. Its principles do not form a coherent unity because of the presence of conflicting social and economic interests in the environment shaping it. This is not so with the institutions that finally consolidate themselves in the process of guiding the political life of that country. Separation of powers, laicism and pluralism point to an existing commitment between the differents forces that shape the American political system. In the same sense, it establishes the existence of principles capable of being integrated in the exercise of contemporary democracy, just as well as in development of capitalism on big scale.... view less
