Privatheit und Global Governance in der Internationalen Politischen Theorie

Abstract

Die sich entwickelnde Subdisziplin Internationale Politische Theorie wird als ein Forschungsfeld konturiert, das im Gegen- und Miteinander ausgewählter Konzepte aus den Internationalen Beziehungen und der Politischen Theorie gleichzeitig über diese Teildisziplinen hinausragen und neue Perspektiven eröffnen kann. Dies wird anhand des in beiden Teildisziplinen relevanten Konzeptes der Privatheit verdeutlicht. Im Rahmen Internationaler Politischer Theorie wird erstens die Struktur einer intrinsischen Vermittlungsbeziehung zwischen Privatem und Öffentlichem sichtbar, zweitens eine tendenzielle Ausblendung der innerstaatlichen und familiären domestic sphere - ein entscheidender Teilbereich des Privaten, der sich aus einer konzeptuellen Verdoppelung des Privaten und dessen Überkreuzung mit der Unterscheidung zwischen staatlichem und globalem Raum ergibt. Die Relevanz und die gegenseitigen Effekte öffentlicher und privater, einander durchdringender Bereiche können aus der Perspektive Internationaler Politischer Theorie untersucht werden, ohne konzeptuelle Unterschiede einzuebnen.

The currently emerging subdiscipline International Political Theory is outlined as a perspective that is simultaneously inside and beyond its two branches of origin, International Relations and Political Theory. The discussion of privacy, a concept that is as relevant as it is ambiguous in both branches, is illustrative for this approach. The International Political Theory perspective analyzes the relation between the public and the private as intrinsically mutually constitutive concepts and reveals a possible research gap regarding the domestic sphere, resulting from a conceptual duplication of the private and its overlap with the national/global dichotomy. International Political Theory can fill this gap by recognizing different public and private spheres and by analyzing their mutual effects, implications and meanings, without ignoring conceptual differences.
