El planteamiento central de este trabajo de investigación es que la guerra en Chiapas continúa, porque detrás de la negativa del Estado mexicano a respetar y garantizar constitucionalmente los derechos de los pueblos indígenas reconocidos en los Acuerdos de San Andrés, están los intereses de corporaciones trasnacionales sobre los recursos naturales estratégicos, que se localizan en el territorio del sureste mexicano. Cerrado el camino legal, cancelada la salida política, y decretado el fin del conflicto, el gobierno federal mantiene en marcha -a la vez que niega- una guerra de baja intensidad, mientras el Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional, en respuesta, sin renunciar a las armas, se ha dedicado a llevar a la práctica los derechos indígenas, consolidando la organización de las comunidades bases de apoyo en los municipios autónomos y reorganizando sus relaciones con la sociedad civil nacional e internacional.... view less

The primary focus of this particular research, is that war in the State of Chiapas continues because behind the government’s refusal to guarantee and respect the constitutional rights of the indigenous people, acknowledged under the San Andres Agreement, there is a financial interest of transnational companies over the strategic natural resources of Southeast Mexico. Having rejected all legal and political negotiations, and after announcing the end of the conflict, the Federal Government moves forward with -and simultaneously denies- a low intensity war, while in response the National Liberation Zapatista Army (EZLN), without abandoning the armed struggle, has continued enforcing the rights of the indigenous people, while focusing on its support base of communities in the autonomous municipalities, and reorganizing its relationships with the civilian population of the national and international communities.... view less
