Los estereotipos y las relaciones interétnicas en la Costa Chica oaxaqueña

Abstract

En este trabajo se describe y analiza la forma en que los mixtecos, mestizos y afromestizos de Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca, se relacionan entre sí de manera desigual y establecen relaciones de dominación y subordinación, creando y reproduciendo imágenes grupales denominadas estereotipos. Dichos estereotipos sirven para guiar la interacción cotidiana, caracterizando de manera fundamental las relaciones interétnicas entre los grupos étnicos. Propongo que los estereotipos no sólo reproducen las relaciones de dominación, sino que también las impugnan.

In this article the author uses the concept "stereotype" to understand the group images that guide the relations between mixtecos, mestizos and afromexicans in Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca. The hierarchical ethnic relations between these three groups are not only reproduced by this images, but they are useful to question and destroy these relations.
