Übergangsrituale des Jugendalters haben ihre einstige Bedeutung der symbolischen Markierung eines Statuswechsels in der Gegenwartsgesellschaft weitgehend verloren. Darauf verweisen zahlreiche empirische Studien. Dennoch bestehen Übergangsrituale des Jugendalters in verschiedenen Veranstaltungsformaten fort. Offen bleibt vor diesem Hintergrund jedoch die Frage, wie der Übergang ins Erwachsenenalter jeweils gestaltet wird und welcher Sinn sich darüber symbolisch vermittelt.
