Nutzung des Kulturerbes als touristische Entwicklungsressource in den Grenzräumen der Großregion und der Oberrheinregion

Abstract

Der Kulturtourismus gehört zu den am schnellsten wachsenden Segmenten des Tourismus. Eine wichtige Ressource zur Entwicklung des Kulturtourismus ist das Kulturerbe. Obwohl der Tourismus in ländlichen Räumen eine wichtige Rolle spielt, um Beschäftigung und Einkommen, aber auch effektive Versorgungsstrukturen zu sichern, werden im Unterschied zu Städten in ländlichen Regionen die entsprechenden Ressourcen zur Entwicklung des Kulturtourismus kaum genutzt. Deshalb stellt sich bezogen auf die Grenzregionen, die größtenteils ländlich geprägt sind, die Frage, welche Rolle dort zurzeit der Kulturtourismus und das Kulturerbe spielen. Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht die touristische Nutzung des Kulturerbes in den Grenzräumen der Großregion und der Trinationalen Metropolregion Oberrhein und gibt auf dieser Grundlage Anstöße zu einer weitergehenden Nutzung des Kulturerbes als touristische Entwicklungsressource.

Cultural tourism is one of the most quickly growing segments of tourism. Cultural heritage is an important resource for developing cultural tourism. In rural areas tourism plays an important role in terms of safeguarding employment, income and supply structures, but in contrast to the situation in urban areas, resources for developing cultural tourism are scarcely used. As the border regions are largely of rural character, the question arises as to the role currently played there by cultural tourism and cultural heritage. This paper investigates the touristic use of cultural heritage in the border areas of the Greater Region and the Tri-national Metropolitan Region of the Upper Rhine and uses this as a basis for proposals concerning the further utilisation of cultural heritage as a resource for tourism development.
