Der disziplinäre Volltextserver PsyDok am Sondersammelgebiet Psychologie

Abstract

This article focuses on the connection between libraries and the current alternative methods of publishing. The Special Subject Collection Psychology at Saarland University and State Library (SULB) faced the question how a contribution can be made to the availability and preservation of scientific information. SULB decided to interpret its task of collecting scientific psychological data in a modern way and established a full text server for psychological documents called PsyDok. A service like this offers much more then just the benefit of a guaranteed availability of electronic documents. By applying the motto 'maximizing research impact by maximizing research access,' a full text server offers a rapid and global flow of information and serves the principles of 'Open Access'." "Der Fokus des Artikels liegt auf der Verbindung zwischen Bibliotheken und den gegenwärtigen alternativen Publikationsmethoden. Das Sondersammelgebiet Psychologie an der Saarländischen Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek (SULB) stellte sich der Frage, wie ein Beitrag zur Verfügbarkeit und Erhaltung von wissenschaftlichen Informationen geleistet werden kann. Die SULB entschloss sich, ihre Aufgabe - die Sammlung von wissenschaftlichen psychologischen Daten - auf moderne Weise zu interpretieren und richtete einen Volltextserver für psychologische Dokumente mit dem Namen PsyDok ein. Ein Service wie dieser bietet viel mehr als nur den Vorteil von garantierter Verfügbarkeit der elektronischen Dokumente. Bei Anwendung des Mottos 'maximierte Forschungswirkung durch maximierten Forschungszugang' bietet ein Volltextserver einen schnellen, globalen Informationsfluss und bedient die Prinzipien des 'Open Access'."
