Der Beitrag fragt, unter welchen Voraussetzungen und Bedingungen politische Interessenorganisationen Online-Medien verwenden und untersucht Organisations-Umwelt-Dynamiken als Kontextbedingungen. Die empirische Grundlage bilden Interviews mit Vertretern von Interessenorganisationen aus der Gesundheits- und Umweltpolitik, die in Deutschland angesiedelt sind. Die Befunde zeigen, dass die Online-Kommunikation nicht allein aufgrund strategischer Erwägungen und Kosten-Nutzen-Kalküle aus der Organisation heraus erklärt werden kann. Die Verwendung von Online-Medien ist auch durch wahrgenommene Ansprüche und Druck aus der Organisationsumwelt zu erklären, rationale Verwendungsmotive werden teilweise erst nach der Einführung einzelner Medien entwickelt. Obwohl Politikfelder nicht die ausschließlichen Referenzräume der Organisationen darstellen, erweitern Online-Medien das Feld der Akteure und Informationsquellen in der Umweltpolitik, wohingegen sich im Feld Gesundheit keine Veränderungen zeigen.... view less

The article asks under which terms and conditions political interest organizations use online media and examines organization-environment dynamics as context of this usage. The empirical basis form interviews with representatives of German based organizations from the health and environmental policy sector. The findings show that online communication cannot solely be explained on the basis of the organizations strategic considerations and cost benefit calculations. The use of online media is also influenced by perceived demands and pressure from the organizations’ environment and rational motives for usage are partially developed only after individual media were launched. Although policy sectors are not the exclusive reference space of the organizations, online media extend the field of actors and sources of information in the environmental policy sector, whereas there are no changes within the health sector.... view less
