%X 'The technological development in the area of Information- and Telecommunication-Technologies has initiated in the nineties a dynamic in the economy, which was often compared with the industrial revolution. The Information- and Communication-Technologies as well as their diffusion are linked to the economical development of the USA in the 1990s and the term of the 'New Economy' arose out of this development. This term raises the expectations of a permanent higher growth rates of the production capacity. The USA have undergone the longest period of revival in it's younger history. The following article gives an overview of the diffusion and the basic conditions of the Information- and Communication-Technologies (IuK-Technologien). Furthermore, this contribution deals with some economical repercussions of these technologies. In this context the question is raised, to what extend the discussed development of the information- and communication-technologies indicates a 'new' economy.' (author's abstract)
