We wondered how AI could be useful for qualitative research. As the discourse around commercial AI is filled with utter urgence and fear of missing out, we thought we needed to take actuality in consideration and this is what this article does. It describes the functionality and discourse around AI and relates that to the geopolitical, commercial and environmental actuality surrounding AI. We look at quality requirements and ethics for qualitative research as well and close with some remarks on topics to consider when thinking of using AI. We end with reflective questions you can ask yourself about the use/application of AI.... view less
