Der Beitrag nähert sich dem Phänomen Dating-App als Raum vermeintlich freier Identitätsentfaltung sowie Option digital vermittelter Kommunikations- und Beziehungsinitiierung, indem die Selbstdarstellungsmöglichkeiten verschiedener Dating-Apps analysiert werden. Mittels dokumentarischer Analyse von Dating-App-Infrastruktur legen wir in den Möglichkeiten der Profilgestaltung eingelassene begehrens- und geschlechterbezogene Wissensbestände und Normativitäten frei und befragen sie auf Macht- und Hierarchiezusammenhänge. This article approaches the phenomenon of dating apps as a space for the supposedly free development of a person’s identity as well as an option for digitally mediated communication and relationship initiation by analysing the possibilities of self-presentation in various dating apps. Based on a documentary analysis of dating app infrastructures, we reconstruct profile design options and can thus expose embedded desire- and gender-related knowledge and normativities as well as discuss the findings in terms of their connection to power and hierarchisations.
