Infrastrukturprojekte aus den Bereichen Energie, Verkehr und Stadtentwicklung stoßen immer wieder auf Widerstände aus Teilen der Gesellschaft. Manchmal münden sie sogar in Bürgerentscheide und bringen ein Projekt zu Fall. Die Gründe sind vielfältig: NIMBY, projektbezogene Gründe, verborgene Gründe, Vertrauensverlust, mangelhafte Kommunikation. Um zu gesellschaftlich tragfähigen Lösungen zu gelangen, sollten Vorhabenträger und Verwaltungen eine dialogorientierte Kommunikation und Öffentlichkeitsbeteiligung pflegen. Frühzeitige und umfassende Kommunikation sichert die inhaltliche Angemessenheit der technischen Lösung für den gesellschaftlichen Bedarf und senkt damit die Wahrscheinlichkeit eskalierender Konflikte.... view less

Infrastructure projects in the areas of energy, transportation and urban development regularly face protest from different societal groups. Sometimes protest leads to referenda and the termination of projects. There are many different reasons for this: NIMBY, project-based reasons, hidden reasons, loss of trust, miscommunication. In order to find solutions that are socially sustainable and widely accepted, project developers and public administrations should secure dialogue-oriented communication and public participation. Early and comprehensive communication helps to gain societal legitimation for the technical solution of the project and thus reduces the likelihood that conflicts escalate.... view less
