Based on qualitative interviews with nurses who identify as male working in healthcare, geriatric and special needs care, this article reconstructs how they link masculinity with caring. The analysis of the interviews shows that nurses tend to link the ideals of hegemonic masculinity through their everyday work and caring practices, whereas in geriatric and curative care notions of hegemonic masculinity are becoming unsettled and there are signs of change processes.... view less
