Für das Leben lernen: Warum fehlt die Soziologie in der Schule?

Abstract

Der Beitrag kritisiert den Umstand, dass soziologische Kompetenzen in der Schule kaum vermittelt werden und die universitäre Lehramtsausbildung praktisch ohne Einbezug der Soziologie stattfindet. Dies wird problematisiert, weil jungen Menschen damit jenes gesellschaftliche Orientierungswissen vorenthalten wird, das die Soziologie systematisch bereitstellt, und das in Zeiten zunehmend krisenhafter gesellschaftlicher Entwicklungen besonders notwendig ist. Es wird aber auch aus Sicht des Faches problematisiert, dass die mangelnde Sichtbarkeit der Soziologie in der Schule mit zu den aktuell beobachtbaren sinkenden Studierendenzahlen in den Soziologie-Studiengängen beiträgt. Es werden Maßnahmen vorgestellt, die der DGS-Ausschuss "Soziologie in Schule und Lehre" ergriffen hat, um im Fach und bei politisch Verantwortlichen das Problembewusstsein zu schärfen.

The article criticizes the fact that sociological competencies are hardly taught at school and that university teacher training is carried out virtually without the inclusion of sociology. This is problematized because young people are thus deprived of essential skills of social orientation, which sociology systematically provides, and this in times of increasingly crisis-ridden social developments. Looking at the issue from the perspective of sociology as an academic discipline, it is also problematized that the lack of visibility of sociology in schools contributes to the currently observable decline in the number of students in sociology courses. Measures are presented which the DGS committee "Sociology in Schools and Teaching" has taken to raise awareness of the problem both within the group of sociologists at universities and among those with political responsibility in the realm of school and education.
