Metaphern als Spuren von Diskursen in biografischen Texten

Abstract

Der Beitrag diskutiert die Weiterführung einer sozialkonstruktivistischen Biographieforschung durch diskurstheoretische Überlegungen, wie sie zunehmend in der Biographieforschung in den letzten Jahren aufgenommen werden. Es wird den Fragen nachgegangen, inwiefern Diskurse oder Diskursfragmente in biographischen Narrationen rekonstruiert werden können und in welcher Weise die komplexe Struktur von Zeitlichkeit und Narration berücksichtigt werden muss. Als methodisches Vorgehen wird die Analyse von Metaphern vorgeschlagen. Zwei Beispiele sollen dieses Verfahren verdeutlichen.

In this article I discuss the potentials of discourse theory for biographical research from a social constructivist perspective. The connection between discourse theory and biographical research is becoming increasingly important in qualitative research. Despite this increasing importance, there are few guidelines explaining how discourses or parts of discourses can be reconstructed in biographical narratives and how the complex relation of temporality and narration can be taken into consideration. This contribution focuses on these issues and suggests the analysis of metaphors as a possible means to reconstruct discourses or parts of them in biographical narratives. Two examples will illustrate this perspective.

En este artículo discuto los potenciales de la teoría del discurso para la investigación biográfica desde la perspectiva del constructivismo social. En la investigación cualitativa es cada vez mas importante la conexión entre teoría del discurso e investigación biográfica. A pesar de esta importancia creciente hay pocas directrices que expliquen como los discursos o partes del discurso pueden ser reconstruídos en narrativas biográficas y como ha de tomarse en cuenta la relación compleja de temporalidad y narración. Esta contribución se enfoca en estos temas y sugiere el análisis de las metáforas como medio pertinente para reconstruir discursos o parte de ellos en narrativas biográficas. Se ilustra mediante dos ejemplos.
